A North Carolina teen is a very young contributor to syndicated comics.
Victor Rivera, 16, submitted a gag that was the basis for a recent “Rhymes With Orange” comic by Hilary Price of King Features Syndicate, according to a story in The News & Observer of Raleigh, N.C.
Also, Rivera was only 13 when cartoonist Dan Piraro used an idea of his in the King-distributed “Bizarro” panel. Eight more of Rivera’s gags have since turned up in “Bizarro.”
Piraro said only about 20 of his panels a year are based on someone else’s ideas, noted Matt Ehlers’ News & Observer story.
Rivera, an aspiring actor, also draws a comic for his high school newspaper.
