Editorial cartoonist Ann Telnaes will leave Tribune Media Services effective April 30 rather than April 1.
When asked why the departure was delayed, Telnaes said it was “through mutual agreement” between her and TMS. She will continue doing editorial cartoons, but declined to specify what her distribution arrangement might be after April 30. Possibilities include self-syndication or signing with another major syndicate.
The 2001 Pulitzer Prize winner said last week she was leaving TMS because she and the syndicate “didn’t see eye-to-eye on the sales effort” (E&P Online, March 16).
Telnaes, who has about 150 newspaper clients, also does a weekly cartoon for Women’s eNews and contributes to the “Six Chix” comic distributed by King Features Syndicate.
