Roy Robinson, publisher of The Graham Leader and vice president of Graham Newspapers Inc., has been elected president of the Texas Press Association.
Robinson’s election occurred at the organization’s 129th summer convention last weekend.
Robinson succeeds Phil Major, publisher of the Clay County Leader, who became chairman of the board.
Other newly elected officers are Terry Collier, publisher of the Fredericksburg Standard Radio Post as first vice president; Bob Brincefield, publisher of the Brownwood Bulletin as second vice president; and Chad Ferguson, editor-publisher of The Banner Press Newspaper in Columbus, as treasurer.
The press association also announced winners in its Better Newspaper Contest.
The San Antonio Express-News, The Beaumont Enterprise and the River Cities Daily Tribune won general excellence in their respective circulation categories. Sweepstakes awards went to the Odessa American and the River Cities Daily Tribune.
