Lucy prevented Charlie Brown from kicking the football, but Snoopy will be featured at an NFL stadium.
Insurance behemoth MetLife, which uses the “Peanuts” cartoon dog in its marketing, will be a sponsor of the new Giants-Jets stadium being built in New Jersey’s Meadowlands.
MetLife’s name and the Snoopy logo will be posted at and near the stadium’s four main entrances (on walls, escalators, and video displays) as well as on one of the four main scoreboards, reported The Star-Ledger today.
The Newark, N.J.-based newspaper estimated that MetLife is paying $6-8 million a year for the sponsorship rights at the stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2010.
United Media continues to syndicate “Peanuts” reruns by the late Charles M. Schulz.
