Ctnow.com Launches With Affiliate Support
The Hartford Courant, a Times Mirror Co. newspaper, yesterday launched a new design of its Web site, now known as ctnow.com.
Replacing courant.com, ctnow.com combines news stories from The Hartford Courant with online features such as free e-mail, personalized stock quotes, local weather forecasts, maps and directions, chat rooms, shopping, and a customized home page.
Ctnow.com also will carry local news content from other Times Mirror newspapers in Connecticut and Shore Publishing weeklies.
Chris Morrill, general manager of electronic publishing at the Courant, said the Web site is looking for other media outlets to provide content to the Web site. He would not specify with whom they are talking.
The Hartford Courant also launched a corporate Web site, hartfordcourant.com, to handle services such as subscriptions, advertising representatives’ information, and editorial contacts.
‘Essentially, we’re shutting down a traditional brand online and replacing it with something completely different,’ said Morrill. The decision to replace courant.com with ctnow.com took eight months to execute.
