Family Media acquired The Sanford (Fla.) Herald from Republic Newspapers in Knoxville, Tenn., effective March 31. Terms of the deal, brokered by Cribb & Associates, were not disclosed. The Sanford Herald is a twice-weekly paid paper.
“We have been proud to do business in Sanford, Lake Mary, and Seminole County for these last eight years,” said Nick Drewry, president of Republic, in a statement. “At one time we had five newspapers in Florida, but we have been moving toward conducing our business closer to our home state of Tennessee. Sanford is the last Florida paper we own.”
Family Media, based in Miami, Okla., owns daily and weekly newspapers in five states.
