‘The Sentinel’ in Carlisle, Pa., Appoints Exec. Editor

Hope Stephan, the former managing editor of the Times West Virginian, has taken over as the new executive editor of The Sentinel in Carlisle.

Stephan, 54, succeeds Carol Talley, who retired in May after nearly 25 years at the 14,000-circulation daily.

Stephan, a western Pennsylvania native who also has worked at other newspapers in Pennsylvania and Ohio, said she sees herself as “chief reader advocate.” She said she is committed to local news coverage at a time so much news is nationally oriented.

“None of us lives on a national level,” she said.
