“The Sunshine Club” comic, whose creator died last Thursday, will end on Sept. 1.
Repeats of Howie Schneider’s favorite strips will run as a tribute to the creator before the comic leaves newspapers, Alan Gardner reported today on his Daily Cartoonist blog. Also, given the advance times of comics, some original strips will run before the repeats begin.
“The Sunshine Club,” which features a cast of senior citizens, is syndicated by United Media to about 100 newspapers.
Schneider, who was also known for the “Eek and Meek” comic that ran from 1965 to 2000, died at the age of 77.
