THOMSON BUYS WAVE TECHNOLOGIES

IT Training Fits Thomson’s New Focus



Thomson Corp. has agreed to buy Wave Technologies International Inc. for about $45
million, Reuters reports.


Thomson recently announced it is selling all of its newspapers, except for The
Globe and Mail in Toronto, to concentrate on electronic publishing.


Based in St. Louis, Wave develops instructional products for corporate information
technology training and certification which earned $37 million in 1999 revenue.
Wave will fall under the strategic framework of Thomson Learning.


The closing of the tender offer is scheduled for April 2000, after which a merger
will take place. Thomson will offer $9.75 in cash per share for all of the issued
and outstanding common stock of Wave Technologies.
