When the National Cartoonists Society (NCS) announced its division-award finalists several days ago, nominees in a couple of categories were not yet available. One of those categories was newspaper panels.
Now, NCS national representative Mike Lynch has the panel finalists on his blog.
They include “Tundra” creator Chad Carpenter of self-syndication (domestically) and King Features Syndicate (internationally), “The Flying McCoys” collaborators Glenn and Gary McCoy of Universal Press Syndicate, and “Meehan” cartoonist Kieran Meehan of The Evening Times in Glasgow, Scotland. (He also does the “A Lawyer, A Doctor & A Cop” comic strip for King.)
Lynch — whose blog can be seen here — does cartoons for the Wall Street Journal and various magazines.
E&P’s March 31 story on other NCS nominees can be seen here.
Division-award winners will be announced May 24 during the NCS Reuben Award weekend in New Orleans. Others will also be honored that night, included the Reuben recipient (for top cartoonist of the year) and Silver T-Square winner Stu Rees, a syndication attorney profiled on March 31 by E&P.
