FairMarket Powers Boston, NYC Auctions
Times Co. Digital adds local auctions to its online city guide NYToday.com just
days before a major advertising campaign for the guide appears in subways this
FairMarket, based in Woburn, Mass., already powers the auction site on boston.com,
a Times Co. Digital property, and will do the same for NYToday.com. The FairMarket
Network handles local bidding activity and provides access to items from other
member sites. Other members include MSN, Excite.com, XOOM.com, Lycos, Tripod, CBS
SportsLine, Dell Computer, CompUSA, and Outpost.com.
Promotions for NYToday.com are starting with a subway advertising campaign,
including a tag line for auctions: ‘Because in New York City, We Don’t Have Garage
Sales.’ The campaign will focus on auctions, jobs, and real estate and appear in 80%
of the subways by March 31. The ads will also appear on GoCards, free promotional
postcards in city restaurants and bars. Radio advertising is scheduled for March.
