(AP) The parent company of the St. Petersburg Times has dropped its lawsuit against the city over its new ban on street solicitation, including newspaper sales.
An attorney for the Times Publishing Co. said the lawsuit was dropped Wednesday.
The ban is aimed at ridding the city’s busiest streets of homeless panhandlers but also bans newspaper vendors.
The company objected on constitutional grounds, but a federal judge last week indicated he didn’t think it had a good chance of overturning the ordinance.
