TKS Receives First Order from India for 4×1 Press ?Color Top 5000UDI?

Tokyo Kikai Seisakusho Ltd. has received an order for three sets of “Color Top 5000UDI” printing towers, a new model in the Color Top series, from The Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co., Ltd. of India. For TKS, this is the first order received from India. Conclusion of this business deal was announced jointly by Shreyams Kumar, President of Mathrubhumi and Kohei Shiba, Chairman of TKS, before a press corps at the WAN-IFRA Expo 2010 held in Hamburg, Germany, in October of this year.

Mathrubhumi is one of the major newspaper companies in India with 10 factories running in Kerala, a province in Southern India. Delivery of the first set of press is scheduled for March 2011 to Mathrubhumi’s new plant in Trivandrum, a capital of the province, while delivery of the second set is scheduled for November 2011 to the plant in Cochin, and delivery of the last set is scheduled for May 2012 to the plant in Calicut.

The Color Top 5000UDI, is a shaftless tower type 4×1 (double-wide, single-circumference) press, which has a maximum printing speed of 75,000 cph and will produce 32pages with 24 pages color.

Other key specifications of the new model are as follows:

– Drive mechanism: Shaftless unit drive
– Press configuration: Three 4/4 color towers, 1 folding unit, and 4 reel stands x 3 sets (table-top type)
– Web width: 1,400 mm
– Cut-off: 546 mm
– Dampening unit: Spray type
– Folder: 2:3:3 double jaw folder
