The Toledo (OH) Blade has announced today that the paper and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W.) Local 8 signed a three-year collective bargaining agreement. The agreement stipulates revenue sharing in the third year if The Blade reaches predetermined levels of profit, specifically wage increases of up to five percent. Local 8 employees at The Blade ratified the contract last week, which applies to approximately 20 electricians at the paper. The agreement will be in effect until July 2009.
The Blade has eight unions under contract, seven of which had contracts expiring on March 21, 2006. The Blade reports that discussions with the remaining seven unions are ongoing.
