Tribune Co. Reports Consolidated Revenue Loss in May

(AP) Tribune Co., publisher of the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times, said Tuesday that total revenue for the month of May fell 1.9 percent to $458 million from $467 million last year.

Publishing revenue totaled $323 million, 0.6 percent lower than last May’s $325 million. Advertising revenue increased 0.3 percent to $256 million compared with $255 million in May 2004. Excluding Newsday, which implemented lower ad rates as the result of the significant reduction in reported circulation in September 2004, advertising revenue were up 2 percent.
