Chicago Tribune media columnist Jim Kirk is the paper’s new
marketing columnist, assistant managing editor for business Greg
Burns announced today.

Kirk will be stepping into the space George Lazarus once dominated
– reporting on Chicago’s advertising, public relations and media
scene for three decades until his death Sept. 8.

Kirk’s column will run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning
Sept. 26. Kirk, 35, joined the Tribune in 1997 and has been writing
its ‘Media Talk’ column on the local broadcasting scene since May
1998. He previously worked at the competing Chicago Sun-Times and
