Tribune Interactive, which feeds content from Tribune Co.’s various newspaper and TV properties to Web sites in 20 major U.S. markets, has selected Teragram, a provider of multilingual natural language processing technologies, to supply taxonomy management, automatic metadata generation, and entity and events extraction technology.

Teragram?s full linguistics suite will be used to automate the organization of electronic documents within Tribune Interactive?s network of news Web sites. Teragram?s TK240 Taxonomy Manager and Semantic Term Manager will help classify content and tag it, and define key taxonomies for large amounts of data.

In addition, Teragram?s technology will aid Tribune Interactive?s sites in search engine optimization, by defining slightly more vague terms in headlines that normally would not be tagged by major search engines.
