The Tribune Co. announced today that publishing revenues for the month of October were $329 million, up 1.4%. Advertising revenues increased 3.4%, to $261 million, when compared to the same period last year.
Retail advertising revenues rose 4.7% due to strong gains in electronics and home furnishings. National advertising declined 0.6% with softness in the movies/entertainment, travel/resorts, and auto categories, though technology proved stronger. Classified advertising revenue grew 4.9% including help wanted and real estate, each up 12%. Auto classified took a hit, dropping 6%.
Interactive revenues were up 22%, to $11 million.
