Broadband News Site Gets Tribune Content
The Tribune Co.’s Tribune Ventures announced Wednesday it has
invested in The FeedRoom, a broadband, interactive news network
that features news content from major news sources.
New York-based FeedRoom, scheduled to launch later this month,
aggregates news and information from television networks, cable
channels, and local television and radio stations. The
broadband-only site will allow users to act as their own
producers, creating personalized newscasts from various sources.
Along with the Tribune investment, Tribune Broadcasting will
provide news and information video to The FeedRoom. In return,
FeedRoom will create co-branded station Web sites that will
feature Tribune stations’ breaking news, weather, sports, and
Other news sources contributing to The FeedRoom include NBC,
Reuters, and the only newspaper partner thus far, USA Today.
‘The FeedRoom’s advanced broadband, streaming video technology
is defining the next generation of gathering and obtaining news
on demand,’ said Michael Eigner, Tribune Television president.
‘The customized Web sites that FeedRoom will develop for each
of our television stations will create new opportunities to
generate advertising revenues and to promote our newscasts.’
