Identical twins from Scotland are leaving the press for the pulpit.
Scott Paton, a graphic designer at Aberdeen’s Press and Journal, and James Paton, who’s worked in editorial, promotions and ad production at England’s Archant Norfolk, are taking up the Baptist ministry after separately studying in different schools while working for their newspapers.
As might be expected, the 45-year-olds have had shared interests since childhood. “We both trained at the Gray’s School of Art, and we have both been in very similar jobs ever since,” James told Helen Lambourne for HholdtheFrontPage, a 10-year-old Website covering Britain’s regional press, launched by what is now Northcliffe Media Ltd. and now co-owned with Newsquest, Trinity Mirror and Johnston Press
James, who becomes a full-time minister at Zoar Baptist Church in Ipswich in September, told Lambourne that while he enjoyed the work at Archant and will miss his coworkers, he is “looking forward to the people-orientated side of the work and not just being on a computer all day.
