John Huge, 25, and Michael Pinkston, 18, were arrested while delivering copies of the Centralia, Ill., Morning Sentinel Sunday morning, Aug. 22, and jailed on charges of burglary and theft after allegedly taking items from homes in nearby Odin, Ill.

The two were believed to be substitutes for the route’s regular carrier, according to the Sentinel.

Odin Police told Salem radio station WJBD they were tipped by several residents in recent weeks of missing items and suspicious behavior by the carriers. Police recovered some items at the pair’s Centralia home and another off a bridge where they were said to have attempted to throw an item into a creek.
