Universal Press Syndicate is offering two Christmas serials from the wife-and-husband writing team of Katharine Fair and Christopher “Chip” Scanlan.

“Mystery @ Elf Camp” (a new 14-part series) will join “The Holly Wreath Man” (originally issued in 2003) as holiday options for newspapers. “Elf Camp” is designed to run Dec. 10-23, and “Holly” Dec. 1-25.

“Elf Camp” is illustrated by V.L. Totire, a Cleveland-based artist who has done children’s books, greeting cards, and more. “The Holly Wreath Man” is illustrated by Jillian Gilliland, who also illustrates “Tell Me a Story” for Universal.

In 2004, “The Holly Wreath Man” became a hardcover book published by Andrews McMeel Publishing, a sister company to Universal.

Fair is a freelance writer, ad copywriter, and substitute teacher. Scanlan — a senior faculty member and columnist for the Poynter Institute — has worked as a feature writer for the St. Petersburg Times, a national correspondent for Knight-Ridder Newspapers, a reporter for The Providence (R.I.) Journal, and done freelance writing.
