Andrew Polin has purchased the Tri-County News and West Lane News from Mike and Sandy Thoele. The two Oregon papers are based in Junction City and Veneta, respectively.
Terms of the deal, brokered by W.B. Grimes & Co., were not disclosed.
Polin has served as the CEO of the St. Louis Jewish Light and also worked on weekly and daily papers in Little Rock, Ark., Stuttgart, Ark., Boca Raton, Fla., Deerfield Park, Fla., and Miami.
Mike Thoele said in a statement, “When we bought the papers as a struggling operation nine years ago, we know that this day would come. We’ve lived in this rural community for nearly four decades and we consider operating its newspapers as a trust. They own you as much as you own them, and your last responsibility is to assure their future.”
Added Sandy, “With Andy Polin, we think we’ve done that. He’s a solid journalist with small-town experience and, in truth, a far more experienced business person than we could ever hope to be.”
