Two 15-year-old boys lying on blankets in the middle of a Danville street were run over by a newspaper delivery driver early Friday morning.
A newspaper delivery woman driving a four-door sedan turned onto Ashland Court to deliver papers around 3:25 a.m. and ran over the boys as she was exiting the court, police Sgt. Troy Francis said.
The woman apparently did not see the boys, who live nearby, Francis said.
The boys were trapped between the front and rear wheels beneath the vehicle’s undercarriage. The car was not crushing the boys, and San Ramon Valley fire crews responded to remove the car.
Both teens were conscious, talking and without any serious visible injuries before being transported to John Muir Medical Center.
The boys were uncomfortable following the incident, so police did not bother the teens with questions about why they were in the street, according to Francis.
The delivery driver was not arrested, and the incident will remain under investigation while police wait to speak with the boys.
