Unexpected Name in ‘Times’ Roundup

By: Dave Astor

The editorial-cartoon roundup in yesterday’s New York Times included a lesser-known creator than usual.

He is Tom Stiglich, whose editorial cartoons appear in a number of Philadelphia and New Jersey papers.

His Times cartoon pictures a newscaster saying: “A recent study shows that since 1992, the amount of non-reading adults has increased by more than 17 million.” In the second panel, President Bush boasts, “I don’t read newspapers,” as the newscaster adds: “Sadly, that number continues to grow.”

Stiglich (http://www.tomstiglich.com) is also the creator of the “Corner Connections” and “Uncle Joe” comics.
