United Media Launches New Cooking Column

One easy way to save money these days is cutting down on dining out. But to many people strapped for time, eating in quickly becomes a chore.

To meet this need, Newspaper Enterprise Association (NEA) is distributing a new weekly column, ?Eat In and Save,? written by Marialisa Calta. She writes of how to make homemade meals accessible, affordable and enjoyable. Each week, she provides commentary and a recipe for a delicious and wholesome creation that won?t break the bank. A color food photograph accompanies each column.

Calta, a noted cook and award-winning food journalist, boasts publication credits including Gourmet, Food & Wine, Eating Well and The New York Times. She has won awards from the International Association of Culinary Professionals, as well as from the Penney-Journalism Foundation and the Associated Press.

The column, which replaces NEA Food is shorter than its predecessor, running about 800 words.

?The bottom line is that eating in is cheaper than eating out, and usually healthier, too,? Calta said in a release.

NEA and United Feature Syndicate are divisions of United Media, a wholly owned subsidiary of The E.W. Scripps Co.
