Universal Slated to Occupy Historic K.C. Building This October

Andrews McMeel Universal’s move to the historic Boley Building in downtown Kansas City is scheduled for mid-October.

AMU — the parent company of Universal Press Syndicate, uclick, and Andrews McMeel Publishing — is currently headquartered in another Kansas City locale.

The Boley Building was built in 1908 for Charles N. Boley, a newspaper editor-turned-clothier. It was designed by Louis Curtiss, who AMU described as “a talented and eccentric architect.”

AMU said the structure is one of the earliest examples of “metal-glass curtain wall construction,” which makes it appear that “a transparent glass wall encloses the structure of the building as opposed to the building supporting the windows.”

A photo of the building can be seen here.
