MCLEAN, Va., March 30, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — USA TODAY Sports Weekly is adding more punch for its Chicago and Philadelphia readers. The national tabloid that covers professional baseball and football will launch 8-page special sections – called Chicago Extra and Philly Extra – that will be inserted in the regular Sports Weekly issues in those areas starting with today’s MLB season preview issue.
Each Extra will focus on local content and fan engagement, with columns, player interviews, quizzes for fans, the latest buzz on sports talk radio and team analysis. Chicago Extra will cover the Cubs, White Sox and Bears. Philly Extra will cover the Phillies and Eagles.
The Extras will listen to the voices of fans. A special e-mail address has been set up at Fanview@usatoday.com for fans to become more interactive with Sports Weekly and send in photos.
