Gannett announced today that Marcia Bullard, president and CEO of USA Weekend, is retiring, effective March 31. Current Publisher Charles Gabrielson has added the title of president.

Bullard has been with Gannett for 35 years.

“Marcia has had an extraordinary career with Gannett and she has been a driving force for the enduring success of USA Weekend,” David Hunke, USA Today’s president and publisher, said in a statement. “At the same time, Chuck has played an important role in USA Weekend’s continued growth and his well-deserved promotion will provide a seamless transition.”

Bullard joined Gannett in 1974 at the Rochester (N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle before she joined USA Today as deputy managing editor of the Life section. She served as USA Weekend’s managing editor, and was named president and CEO in 1996.

Gabrielson started with Gannett in 1971 at The Journal News in Westchester County, N.Y., eventually serving as ad director. He joined USA Weekend in 1989 as executive vice president.

Meanwhile, Parade Magazine is also making changes to its masthead. Mediabistro’s Fishbowl reported that Parade Editor Janice Kaplan is leaving the Sunday magazine. Randy Siegel, the publisher of Parade, was appointed to lead Advance Publications local digital strategy in January.
