Latest Staffers To Depart Site
More staffers who’ve recently departed USAToday.com have landed jobs at other Web
companies. Chris Fruitrich, former deputy editor and a founding member of USAToday.com,
joins zUniversity.com as vice president of content and publishing.
His former colleague, Chris Sherman (USAToday.com’s former director of technology)
joins zUniversity as chief technology officer.
Greenwich, Conn.-based zUniversity.com is a full-service Internet solutions provider
for the higher education community, including students, alumni, faculty, staff,
parents, and fans. The company has signed agreements with over 45 universities.
Proceeds from the customized Web platforms are shared with the schools.
Fruitrich will supervise content strategies and design development for zUniversity’s
Web sites. Sherman will be responsible for overall technical strategy and direction
of the company.
Earlier this week, USAToday.com’s former general manager, Larry K. Sanders, became
senior vice president and publisher of accessmagazine.com. And on March 1, the site’s
publisher Lorraine Cichowski stepped aside to review new-media and digital ventures
for Arlington, Va.-based USA Today. She was replaced by Jeffrey A. Webber, former vice president/circulation for the print newspaper.
