USAToday.com Starts Selective Registration

By:

USA Today recently became the latest newspaper to require registration on selection portions of its Web site.

Following the model employed last year by washingtonpost.com, USAToday.com will ask users only three questions: gender, ZIP code, and year of birth. The registration wall is only in place on limited areas of USAToday.com, such as the Life section.

The user information will be used to “enhance advertising targeting capability and improve the effectiveness of advertiser messaging,” according to a release from USAToday.com.
