Van Dongen Named President of ‘Marin (Calif.) Independent Journal’

Mario van Dongen, most recently the regional vice president of sales for the Northern California PennySaver, has been named the new president and publisher of the Marin Independent Journal in Marin County, Calif., reported the paper today.

Prior to working at PennySaver, van Dongen was the publisher and president of the Napa (Calif.) Valley Register for three years. Before that, he was president and general manager of Little Nickel Classifieds Publications in Washington since 1997. Previous to that he had spent 17 years in varying positions at the PennySaver in Southern California, including vice president of sales, general sales manager, regional sales manager, and outside sales representative.

Van Dongen starts on Nov. 6, and will replace Kenneth A. Svanum who resigned in August due to family medical issues, said the paper.
