Venezuelan daily El Informador will increase print and color capacity and when it installs a 20-unit Goss Community SSC Press at its Barquisimeto facility.
The 45,000 circulation paper (50,000 Sundays) ordered a new press with five four-high towers, five zero-speed splicers and a folder with upper former. The publisher hopes that the 21.5-inch cut-off will reduce paper consumption by 10%, and that the splicers will cut paper waste levels by 50%, according to Goss.
The press towers will allow for color impressions on both sides of the web, which will increase the paper’s color capabilities and open the door to the growing insert market.
Goss International has seen strong sales in Latin America in recent months.
