Tom Ricks, the well-regarded military reporter for The Washington Post, maintains a print and Web feature that republishes documents and email exchanges sent to him. It is aptly titled, “Tom Ricks’s Inbox.”

On Sunday, he reprinted an ad posting following his own introduction, which read: “By now, anyone paying attention knows that one of the unusual characteristics of the Iraq war is the U.S. military’s heavy reliance on contractors, who really are the second largest contributors to the coalition that remains there. But even I was surprised by this eye-popping salary for an intelligence analyst — even if it’s for work in a rough neighborhood. The handsomely paid analysts should be starting their new jobs right about now.”

Here’s the ad.
