Vision Data, Rensselaer, N.Y., has activated a live remote hot-backup system to provide complete security for customers running systems hosted by Vision Data on either an application-service-provider or software-as-a-service basis.
Located in a Vision Data-owned facility miles from the main hosted-server site, the remote back-up ensures continued operation in the event of a disaster at Vision Data’s primary site.
Both hosted server systems are housed in facilities wholly owned and solely occupied by Vision Data. The main facility, with offices on three floors and its own secured parking lot, has an on-site natural gas generator able to automatically support the main facility’s electrical power (including telephone) needs. Customer data at the backup site is updated daily from the live site every 30 minutes around the clock.
“Any publication can now run… from Vision Data’s site on a full-time or backup basis with short notice over our own ASP/SaaS servers with the security of knowing that we will continue to function, even in the event of a power failure,” Visiondata Thomas A. Dempsey said in announcing the remote back-up.
