Morris DigitalWorks, the online division of Morris Communications Co. LLC, developer of online technology and prepress software, has licensed The Washington Post for use of its BluMunKee prepress automation software. Integration of the software with the Post’s front-end system is scheduled for completion this month.

The BluMunKee suite automatically corrects pictures, creating color and monochrome versions in multiple sizes, formats, resolutions and gamuts. Extending to the pressroom, it manages the flow of pictures to and from PDF files, servers, databases, properties, departments and customers.

Post Quality Assurance Manager Kevin Conner said that after four weeks of testing, BluMunkee “passed the proof-of-concept analysis with flying colors.” The installation, he added, will give imaging staffers “more time to concentrate on the photos we want to really focus on the most.”
