Washington Post Co. Board Adds a Seat for Katharine Weymouth

Katharine Weymouth — publisher of The Washington Post and a great-granddaughter of Eugene Meyer, who bought the paper in 1933 — has been elected to The Washington Post Co. board of directors, the company said Thursday.

Her election increases the company’s board to 12 members, it noted.

Weymouth is CEO of Washington Post Media, a Post Co. unit that includes the flagship Washington Post, Express and El Tiempo Latino, and publisher of The Washington Post. She was CEO of  the unit and publisher of the Post since February 2008. She had been vice president of advertising for The Washington Post since January 2005.
