Today The Washington Post today will launch a live interactive video on Twitter with an Election Day Twittercast. Via the @washingtonpost handle, The Post will solicit questions from Twitter users as it simultaneously airs on the platform. The Post is among the first news organizations to be able to embed live and taped video on the new Twitter platform.”Through this experiment we’re taking Post content directly to Twitter’s platform and engaging with users there, said Katharine Zaleski, the Post’s executive producer and head of digital products in a press release. “We’re excited to see how people engage with our newsroom without ever having to leave Twitter.”
The Post’s Twittercast will invite readers to tweet their election day questions to Chris Cillizza from The Washington Post’s “The Fix” blog. The Post’s on-camera anchor Anqoinette Crosby will host the live show, receiving questions from Twitter users via the hashtags #askthefix and #election. With the launch of The Post’s Twittercast, The Post’s video becomes a part of the interactive communication available on Twitter.
To watch the live show, go to the new Twitter.com and follow the @washingtonpost handle or The Washington Post Fix Blog today Tuesday, Nov. 2 from 2:02 – 3:02 p.m. ET. You can also search for the stream around the show using the hashtag #askthefix or #election. For more information
