These days we hear a lot about Americans’ lack of trust in the media. For us, it’s a disconnect that goes right back to our roots. The Maynard Institute began almost five decades ago, in the dramatic aftermath of the Kerner Commission, and the notion of holding the media accountable for ignoring racial fractures in American society.

    if there ever was a misleading (and misled) notion within society, it is this one … i expect you to be fighting against racism, demanding that people be hired based on their race …
    please remember that the lack of public trust starts elsewhere: shoddy journalism is its cause …

    Mr. Adler, it’s just the opposite, the more that newsrooms reflect the demographics of our country, the better and stronger and more accurate the reporting.
