Weekly’s GM in Pittsburgh Dies of Swine Flu Complications

The general manager of a weekly newspaper in suburban Pittsburgh has died of complications from swine flu.

Forty-nine-year-old Liza Northrop Beale was the general manager of The Almanac and the editor of a pair of magazines published by the Observer Publishing Co. of Washington, Pa.

Company officials say Ms. Beale died Saturday. She is the fourth person to die of complications related to the H1N1 virus in Washington County.

Ms. Beale had been serving as the vice president of the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association Foundation.
