Mike Wenninger has sold the Trinity Journal in Weaverville, Calif., to Wayne Agner. Terms of the deal, brokered by JP Media Partners, were not disclosed.

The Journal is a 4,350-circ paid weekly and was founded in 1856 during the Gold Rush.

Agner most recently was the managing editor of the Mohave Valley Daily News in Bullhead City, Ariz.

“I look forward to getting back to California and exploring all that Trinity County has to offer,” Agner said in a statement. “Mike has done a wonderful job with the Journal over the years; my goal will be to build upon that solid foundation he has left.”

Wenninger, 70, has owned the Journal since 1993.
