As part of a strategy to enter the digital printing market, Switzerland’s Wifag-Polytype Group today has bought Sp?hl/Leggett & Platt’s Digital Printing Department, retaining its staff of 30 in Switzerland and United States.
This department will be integrated into Wifag Polytype Holding AG as the WP Digital AG business unit, to be located at Wittenbach, near St.Gallen, Switzerland. Wifag Polytype Holding has approximately 1,500 employees worldwide and manufactures newspaper presses (Wifag), package printing presses, and converting plants for the cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries (Polytype), and is active in the graphics machines and accessories (Wifac).
WP Digital AG will continue to develop, sell and service digital UV large-format printers in the Wifag Polytype Group. Sp?hl AG will continue to make digital large-format printers on behalf of WP Digital AG.
Wifag-Polytype said in a statement that “the existing marketing channels and the opportunities provided by the Wifag Polytype Group constitute an ideal combination that will target further growth for WP Digital AG and expand into new areas involving digital printing.
