In a memo to staff, Chicago Tribune Editor Gerould Kern announced that Associate Editor Joycelyn Winnecke and Managing Editor Jane Hirt each are adding the title of vice president. The pair, who have been in their positions for nearly two years, are being promoted for “their exceptional accomplishments and growing responsibility for the company,” Kern said.
In an unbylined item in Thursday’s Tribune, Winnecke was described as the “chief liaison between editorial, advertising and marketing on developing new revenue streams through Chicago Tribune Media Group content initiatives, special events and programs such as the recently launched Trib Nation consumer outreach project.”
Hirt has taken on increased responsibility for the Chicago Tribune day-to-day newsroom operations, according to Kern.
