On the morning The New York Times gave a not-so-favorable review to her new novel comes news that Ana Marie Cox may be exiting her Washington blog Wonkette, to be replaced by David Lat, the federal prosecutor best known as former author of the spicy Underneath Their Robes judicial blog, according to the Wall Street Journal online and the New York Observer.

Gawker Media, which owns the Wonkette site, has not commented. In any event, Cox is headed for an extended author’s tour.

The Times review, by Janet Maslin, complains that Cox’s first novel, “Dog Days,” is a bit too conventional. Anyone expecting ‘Dog Days” to sound like Wonkette will wait a long time for any Wonkette wit to kick in,” she writes.
