WoodWing Software, based in Zaandam, The Netherlands, has integrated the Microsoft Word word-processing and Excel spreadsheet programs into its Smart Connection Enterprise editorial solution for Adobe InDesign and InCopy.
Available on the Windows platform only, the integration gives users working with Word or Excel direct menu access to the Smart Connection Enterprise database. They may browse the database by publication, issue, section, or any other factor. Users also have access to the In Box to see files routed to them or their group.
Existing files can be opened, and new documents can be saved directly into the Smart Connection Enterprise database. The Smart Connection Enterprise server handles access rights. Once integrated into the Smart Connection Enterprise database, Word files are converted to InCopy files for write-to-fit purposes.
The Excel feature allows spreadsheet files also to be directly stored in the database.
