South Korean manufacturer Samsung and Dutch cross-media publishing solutions supplier WoodWing Software are cooperating to bring digital publications to Samsung’s new Galaxy Tab.
WoodWing will support the Galaxy Tab with its Digital Magazine Tools for creation of customizable newspaper and magazines apps. It will show content created with its tools for the Galaxy Tab at the IFRA Expo in Hamburg, Germany, Oct. 4-6.
Available in Europe in October and soon after in the United States, the Android-based Galaxy Tab has a large 7-inch TFT display with touchscreen interface, weighs 13.3 oz., includes 16GB or 32GB of expandable internal storage, features WiFi, GPS, rear- and front-facing cameras, and acts as a mobile phone.
“Innovation in hardware is just part of our story: enabling the mobilization of media content is now at the core of our smartphone offerings,” Samsung Electronics Research Institute Managing Director Y. S. Moon said in a statement. “Our cooperation with WoodWing will help enable traditional print-based media to create new and exciting content for Galaxy Tab owners.”
WoodWing Software President Erik Schut aid the companies’ collaboration will enable publishers to “be present on the Galaxy Tab at an early stage.”
