The Wall Street Journal is starting a fashion and design bureau, reports Women’s Wear Daily’s Irin Carmon in today’s issue.
Wall Street Journal Publisher L. Gordon Crovitz said the paper wants to cater more to its affluent female readership and by extension, capture more high-end advertisers.
Carmon reported that while the paper hasn?t confirmed if it will hire more reporters to cover the beat, the ad department is ramping up.
While the Wall Street Journal covers the fashion and design, the move will mean more stories every day under a new heading. A new section will not be created, however.
