The Wall Street Journal said today it will now print its Weekend Edition at the Maui News printing facility. The Journal had been printing the edition in the U.S. mainland.
The Journal will still print the Monday through Friday editions at its plant in Riverside, Calif., flying the papers to Hawaii for same day distribution.
Since the Journal reduced its web-width from 60-inches to 48-inches on Jan. 2, the conversion made it possible to print in Hawaii lowering distribution costs and improving customer delivery, according to a statement.
?The move was made to ensure more timely delivery of the Journal in the Hawaiian Islands and better serve our readers,? Larry Hoffman, vice president of production for the Journal, said in a statement.
The Journal owns 17 printing facilities across the U.S.
