The Yankton (S.D.) Press and Dakotan will have new digs in the summer of 2008, upon completion of a facility that will house news and business operations, as well as the daily’s production plant.
The P&D, acquired in 1995 by Augusta, Ga.-based Morris Communications, has hired local architect Glenn Mannes to design the new building. Mannes plans to apply LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) standards to the building’s blueprint.
In addition to providing new offices for the paper’s advertising, online, news, circulation and business operations, the new facility will house a Goss 12-Unit Community press, which will replace a Harris-Cottrell press in operation since the late 1960s and give the paper improved print quality and greater color capability. The daily also intends to purchase and install new prepress systems.
