Well, Wednesday’s the big night: Stephen Colbert vs. The Decemberists.

If you?ve been following the controversy at all, you may know that a few months back, Colbert created a ?green screen? challenge, inviting YouTube types to make use of him swinging a Star Wars lightsaber as if doing battle with Arianna Huffington, bears and other liberals. Eventually, the rock group The Decemberists borrowed from the idea, which rankled the Comedy Central star almost as much as losing to Barry Manilow at the Emmys this year.

Well, you?ll recall that Colbert later invited Manilow on his show and they made nice, even singing a duet. Now he is hosting The Decemberists on his show tonight for what he bills as an epic guitar duel, which he has been promoting all week (with guitar in hand), promising to “shred.” He even claims he was a member of the ?80s rock group, ?Stephen and the Colberts.?

Anyway, if you want to catch up, here is the segment from the Colbert Report when he issued the challenge (watch for Stephen as ’80s rock god), followed by two Decemberists-inspired green screen things (watch for exploding heads).
